Leanne Hart, LMFT is a marriage and family therapist in Orange County, specializing in relationship counseling, couples therapy and even more specifically – counseling and therapy for women.
Being a therapist isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am. I have always loved interacting with others and learning their personal story. While many people shy away from accepting differences in people or run from the struggles others face, I have always embraced them without judgment.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been very passionate about helping those who are struggling in relationships. We all have relationship issues at one time or another. I love to share my insight and experience (both personal and professional) to help anyone develop more meaningful and loving relationships.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in corporate America. Although I was well compensated, I wasn’t passionate about the work I did. I was traveling 80% of the time and actually losing my hair due to stress. Finally realizing, with the help of a good therapist, that my passion lay in helping others at a more personal level has been a gift to me. Since changing careers, I have helped hundreds of people with their relationship struggles. I am real with my clients and enjoy actively participating in sessions.
I love working with women and learning about the roles they play in their own lives and the lives of others. Feminism has provided women with not only freedom and independence but also with some major challenges. The myth of the 50/50 relationship and male/female role reversal continue to be struggles in the lives of many women I work with. I love the satisfaction I get from watching women begin to understand why they’re working so hard but not feeling so good.
I began doing therapy in 1995 while working towards my Master’s Degree. I started my private practice in Huntington Beach in 2000 after getting my Master’s Degree from Pepperdine University, completing an internship and becoming licensed by the State of California. In addition to working with women, I worked for several years with families struggling with domestic violence and child abuse issues. Over the years, I’ve been invited to speak to multiple women’s organizations.
Many people tell me there’s no way they could “hear all those problems.” But I believe there’s no depth in life without getting to truly know other people. I’m naturally therapeutic and insightful, and I love doing what I do.
I have been happily married to my husband, Tom, for over nineteen years. We are raising our 19 year old son and our 17 year old daughter. Our lives are filled with our rewarding careers and watching our kids transition into college.
“Through my personal and professional experience, I’ve developed a true passion for helping people develop the fulfilling relationship they desire.”
